I was involved with the original AvP CCG and Terminator card games, even then I used the old leading edge miniatures to play test the games I helped develop. I use a lot of fun terrain like the bug hunt corridors, frontline gaming mats and a host of other companies and game terrain to create the right atmosphere for some pretty intense games.
