Colonial Marines Sergeant + miniatures range

shedim's picture

Hello Prodos Games,

first of all thank you so much for the rules update. The game is a blast to play now and I really appreciate it!

Dear Prodos, I would love to know when the Colonial Marines Sergeant miniature is going to be released?

The current miniature range is pretty good for the Aliens and the Predators.

The Marines feel kinda lackluster, however. First of all, there's only one sculpt for each miniature, so all squads will look exactly the same, which is a huge bummer. The second thing that bothers me is the running-guy/medic. His pose is kinda extreme and probably either hit or miss for the vast majority of the playerbase. Personally, to me it's a miss. I would love to substitute that model but sadly there's no option and no, the Weyland Yutani Commandos really don't fit with the marines, imho.

The sergeant might have fixed that issue, but since I can't imagine you planned to release more or different marine models/sculpts (which is a shame), the sergeant is my only hope. So, is there an ETA when the sergeant is going to hit the stores?

Are there any plans to expand the miniature range for AvP the hunt begins? There's so much potential here and your miniatures are top notch (well, except for the weird medic).

Kind regards and thanks for your time,

shedim

Firstly I am not a prodos employee so these are only what I have heard on the different Facebook groups I am a member of.

The Sgt has gone out to Kickstarter backers with their wave two stuff so I imagine that it will soon be up in their shop.

There was also talk recently of multi part marines which again should be available soon. In the meantime there are some very nice conversions that people have done if you do a search some will come up.

The medic by the way is a female, therefore the slighter build.

Thanks Bogend! That's great news.

Well, I don't mind the medic's sex. I just don't like the sculpt. The running pose looks way too goofy for my taste and doesn't really fit because all other marines are walking/standing/aiming while this flamethrower-guy (or girl) is bunnyhopping around, probably singing a bollywood song about how nice it would be, if his/her true love would finally hug his/her face.

Let's just hope they'll add the sergeant soon.

Multi part marines? Shut up and take my money! The only things I'd love to see now are chestbursters, alien eggs, sculpted objective markers and resin terrain.

Thank you. As I read your reply it made me smile, I was imagining the marine bunny hopping around singing.

Thanks, haha. This medic should be the next Disney princess, right? :-D

Hi mates.

I suggest that for any date questions you use facebook or the contact forms, because the officials are really working hard on other areas and don't lurk the forums :)
Delivery dates etc are issues you will hardly find an official noticing in here :)

Thanks about the rules comment :P We tried hard :)

For the Marines, there is a second pack of marines and weapons coming up at some point, but it falls on the "dates" category and I can't guess when. As long as the Medic is concerned, I did not pose him running. Instead I posed him a... Poser. One leg down, one leg on a big stone/lodge/step/whatever - like a "Chill dude, I'll cook 'ere" attitude. You could probably play with "green stuff" and conversions :) I've seen lotsa things on facebook, even GW Marine and Guard flamers :)

Hurrah!

As a word of warning to those who are concerned about how their squads look: the sergeant's actually a slightly different scale from the other marines. He's about half a head shorter and everything is proportionately shrunk to fit his height. he's cast in a single piece and actually looks a bit silly alongside the rest of the marines with his comically-small shotgun.

I'll have to get a good picture to post, since this is VERY off-putting.

Just a heads up about the new multipart marines. The sculpts and castings are superb as always. However, if you're looking for movie accurate marines or the Hicks/Hudson look, you might be disappointed. Although the arm choices are extensive, most of them have long sleeves on them. The one set of short sleeve arms with pulse rifle isn't forward firing, but in a downward pointing pose. The short sleeve flamethrower arms don't have the shoulder pads. And 3 out of 5 legs don't have the groin protector. I like variety in my figures, but would have preferred some bare heads and shotgun arms with uniforms more accurate to the movie. My intent for this set was to make a Hudson figure either firing (last stand) or with motion tracker, but neither is possible( motion tracker arms have long sleeves). There is a cool grenade thrower pose that I'll be using and with some heavy customizing and converting, this set can definitely be put to good use.
